Sault Area Hospital Transforms Physician Scheduling and Communication with Hypercare

After more than a decade using the same physician scheduling software, Sault Area Hospital (SAH) was ready for a change. Their legacy tool, Chyma, failed to meet the needs of a fast-paced clinical environment. SAH saw this as an opportunity to modernize and improve how physicians coordinate and communicate.

Usability, support, and pricing were all top of mind during their search for a new solution. What stood out about Hypercare was not just the technology, but the ease of transition and the hands-on support. “We needed something simple, reliable, and quick to adopt,” said Stephanie Leask, Locum Coordinator at SAH. “Hypercare checked all the boxes, and then some.”

Physician scheduling was the core priority. Hypercare quickly replaced the outdated system, offering real-time visibility into who was on call and enabling faster, easier coordination. Over time, what started as a scheduling solution evolved into something more impactful.

Physicians began using Hypercare as their primary communication tool for consults, preferring secure messaging over phone calls in the majority of interactions. This shift has made Hypercare a valuable platform for improving consult efficiency.

Administrative workflows improved, too. Reports that once required heavy administrative work can now be generated quickly using Hypercare. Physicians also rely on Hypercare as a live directory, reducing reliance on switchboard operators.

The onboarding process was smooth and well-supported. SAH introduced Hypercare gradually, with clear documentation, tutorials, and learning modules. During launch week, Hypercare’s team was on-site to help ensure every user had the support they needed, which was especially helpful for those hesitant to adopt new systems.

The tool’s flexibility has been of particular impact. Physicians can communicate asynchronously, on their own time, while new staff are quick to adopt the system and appreciate its ease of use.
